Her tail becomes feathers so that she will levitate as she reaches her higher purpose. Her handsome claws become fragile hands with which to offer a blooming lotus flower to the astral plane. As the planets align, the final phase of the moon unites with Cancer as depicted in her Mona Lisa smile.
Cancer embodies a nurturing, loving individual with strong family attachments. It is the fourth sign of the zodiac, which is entered by the sun on or about June 21st. Cancer rules “home” which is our roots, family, background, relatives, along with the past.
Cancer is a feminine sign ruled by the Moon so their nature is maternal and all about nurturing those they care about. Cancer is associated with soft, nurturing and receptive colors like white, grey, silver and cream. Cancer is emotional on the inside but strong and sturdy on the outside – just like the crab.
The Latin for Cancer means Crab, and in Greek mythology Karkinos was sent to distract Hercules while battling the monster, Hydra. But Hercules crushed the Crab under his foot. So as a reward for its sacrifice, Hera, the wife of Zeus, placed the Crab among the stars as Cancer.
